PM's all-party meeting on J&K late but welcome: CPI(M)

The CPI(M) said they had been consistently demanding that the UPA government got down to the serious business of addressing the present political unrest in the state.

The CPI(M) in Jammu and Kashmir today welcomed the all-party meeting convened by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to discuss the present unrest in the Valley but said the intiative had come late.

"Prime minister's initiative to convene the all party meeting on August 10, though late, is a welcome move", state secretary of CPI(M) MY Tarigami said.

He said his party had been consistently demanding that the UPA government got down to the serious business of addressing the present political unrest in the state.

A framework has to be provided for the process of meaningful dialogue with all shades of opinion and crystallization of political settlement, Tarigami said.
