Twenty-two India Against Corruption (IAC) activists were injured after police lathi-charged them and used water cannons on them when they protested outside Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda’s residence in Delhi on Sunday.

Around 100 activists were protesting against Hooda’s alleged involvement in facilitating and shielding the Robert Vadra-DLF nexus.

The protest was organised by the Haryana wing of the IAC and none of the core members of the IAC were present. A furious Arvind Kejriwal later met the injured at the Ram Manohar Lohia hospital and condemned the Delhi police for using force during a peaceful protest. He minced no words in attacking the Haryana government for harassing officials probing the Varda-DLF deal.

“The Congress is the country’s biggest problem. It is doing all this to save Vadra,” he alleged.

“This is the first time I have seen this kind of force being used by the police,” IAC volunteer Avinash Rajput told DNA.

At a press conference later in the day, former IAC activist Annie Kohli attacked  Kejriwal for his tactics. She asked him whether he was a politician or a revolutionary and raised questions about his conduct.
