Police to form special team to stop women trafficking in AP

Women trafficking is reported from both East and West Godavari district since a long time and several steps have been taken to control this menace.

The Eluru Range DIG Mahesh Bhagwat today said a special team will be constituted to deal with the menace of women trafficking from here to red light areas in different parts of the country.
    
Bhagawat told reporters after taking charge of Eluru Range that women trafficking is reported from both East and West Godavari district since a long time and several steps have been taken to control this menace.
    
The police will now set up a special team to deal with the situation more effectively.
    
Responding to an another query, he said that there was shortage of police staff across the country with there being only one police person for 89,000 people. Now the Andhra government has decided to recruit more police personnel to strengthen the department, he said.
    
He said Maoist activities were reported from Visakhapatnam and Khammam district and the state government was taking all steps to control the naxal menace in the state.
