Congress leader Harish Rawat, who was upset after being ignored for the chief minister's post in Uttarakhand, on Tuesday said the political discord in the state 'should be considered as solved'.
Assuring that the issue was resolved, Rawat said: "There were certain comments said directly or indirectly and I hope that those issues would be resolved, in order to restore good environment in the state. However, the issue that was raised that the newly elected legislators are not taking the oath of office should be considered as solved."
Another Congress leader Harak Singh Rawat, however, denied reports of the end of the conflict.
"There were certain difficulties and we had put forward our proposals before the party high command and I think that it has been looked into. And I hope all the issues would be settled," Harak Singh Rawat said.
"We have discussed this issue as well, and I hope that the situation will be resolved very soon," he added.
Harish Rawat, who was seen as a front runner for the Uttarakhand chief minister's post, had earlier offered to resign from the cabinet following Vijay Bahuguna's selection for the top post.
According to reports, he had earlier sent his resignation to Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. He had also written to Congress President Sonia Gandhi, saying that he would prefer to work as a party worker.
In the 70-member Assembly, Congress had emerged as the largest party with 32 MLAs and has the support of three independent MLAs and one from UKD. The Bahujan Samaj Party, having strength of three members, has pledged its unconditional support to Congress, raising its tally to 39.
