Pota court’s verdict on ISI conspiracy case on Dec 2

A group of people and ISI had hatched a conspiracy to kill leaders of BJP, RSS and VHP.

The designated Pota court is likely to pronounce judgment in the ISI conspiracy case in which large-scale violence was planned in the state following the 2002 communal riots. As many as 44 accused in the case have been arrested, while 38 others, including gangster Dawood Ibrahim and Sharif Khan, have been absconding.

The hearing of the case was concluded on Wednesday and the Pota court has fixed the date for judgment on December 2. Two hundred witnesses deposed before the designated court.

According to the crime branch, a group of people and ISI, the intelligence agency of Pakistan, had hatched a conspiracy to kill leaders of BJP, RSS and VHP and conduct destructive activities across the state to avenge the 2002 communal riots.

Police said the conspiracy was hatched at different places, such as Riyadh in Saudi Arabia, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad. The tiffin bomb blast and killing of Haren Pandya, a popular BJP leader, were planned as part of the conspiracy.
