Power loom strike withdrawn in Tamil Nadu

The decision to call off the strike was taken yesterday following the announcement of the Centre that the 4% duty draw back on cotton yarn export would be withdrawn.

The-six-day long strike by power loom owners in the district protesting against hike in cotton yarn prices was withdrawn today.
   
The decision to call off the strike was taken yesterday following the announcement of the Centre that the 4% duty draw back on cotton yarn export would be withdrawn besides stopping the export subsidy of 7.67% to yarn, Power Loom Owners Association president S Subramani said.
   
All the 40,000 power looms would commence working from today, he said.
