Taking a leaf from the book on the life of late Nanaji Deshmukh, Madhya Pradesh BJP president Prabhat Jha said here today that he will retire from active politics on reaching the age of 62.
"I have decided that come what may I will not take any party post after reaching 62 and will work only as an ordinary BJP worker," Jha told PTI.
He said that his decision to shun active politics after reaching 62 was his personal and it was for others to accept or reject it.
The state BJP chief said that by the time he reached the age of 62 in politics, he should have gained enough strength to work without a post.
"The idea of renouncing active politics came to me when I went to attend a function in connection with the veteran RSS leader Nanaji's death," Jha said.
"I did not want to impose this decision on anyone else and others were free to do what they wanted to do in their lives," he said.
"After reaching the age of 62, I will begin a new career as a social activist," Jha said.
