Parliamentary affairs minister Prakash Pant has been adjudged as the most outstanding MLA of Uttarakhand assembly.
Announcing this at a press conference, speaker of the Assembly Harbans Kapoor today said name of Pant was decided unanimously by a house committee.
Pant's good performance as the parliamentary affairs minister as well as his behaviour in the house made him the most outstanding MLA of the year 2008, Kapoor added.
This is for the first time that most outstanding MLA has been chosen in Uttarakhand, he said, adding, currently only Parliament and Jharkhand assembly are giving such recognition to its members.
Interestingly, Pant was also the first speaker of the interim assembly of the new hill state.
