Prashant Kishor may return to BJP for PM Modi’s 2019 re-election bid: Report

Poll strategist Prashant Kishor is all set to return to the BJP camp for the 2019 General Elections. If the latest reports are to be believed, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Kishor are already in talks. Kishor is often credited for successfully devising the winning formula for BJP’s 2014 campaign.

According to a report published in the Hindustan Times, Kishor and PM Modi have met several times and discussed possibility of working together for 2019 polls.

It is said that after the spectacular 2014 victory, differences came up between BJP chief Amit Shah and Kishor. It is then, the poll strategist quit working for BJP.

Prashant Kishor, who shot to fame after 2014 elections, runs the Indian Political Action Committee.  The organisation works areas such as personal leadership branding, political strategy, messaging and speeches etc.

In case Kishore returns to BJP, he is likely to work directly with PM Modi.

After his split with the BJP, Kishor worked with Nitish Kumar and helped him in securing major victory in Bihar in 2015. Then he moved on to the Congress, where he was made in-charge for the UP and Punjab polls. While Punjab saw Congress returning to power, the results were total disaster in Uttar Pradesh.

So much was the impact of UP loss that the Congress decided not to employ any outside agency for the Gujarat polls. Congress reportedly said that it doesn’t want to ‘outsource’ its election campaign to people who are not clued in to the working of the party. Kishor’s appointment during UP polls had created a major problem which has left a lasting legacy.
