The communal atmosphere in Kerala would turn worse if the government did not take steps to put an end to the `drama' being enacted at Anwarssery where PDP leader Abdul Nasser Madani was camping, Socialist Janata (Democratic) president MP Veerendrakumar said today.
"What is happening at Anwarssery is a pre-scripted drama. Madani, facing arrest in the Bangalore blasts case, is holding press conference where prohibitory orders are in force.
The gunmen provided to him by the government escape by jumping the wall. This is unheard of in Kerala," he said inaugurating the Janata Construction and General Workers union here.
He wanted the government to explain the details it had about Madani, who had been given protection by them till now. Kerala government knew the details of NIA's interrogation of T Nazeer, on whose deposition Madani was enlisted as an accused in the case, and was bound to explain it to the people.
The roots of the events unfolding now could be traced to the tie-up between CPI-M and PDP in the last Lok Sabha elections, Veerendrakumar said.
"Karnataka government says Kerala had offered to help arrest Madani. While Madani pleads innocence, Kerala government, which was protecting him, is silent on the details in its possession about Madani," he said.
Unless the home minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan stopped the `double game' on the matter, the communal atmosphere in the state would be vitiated, Veerendrakumar said.
