Former Lok Sabha speaker PA Sangma, who has off late been appealing to the leaders of various political outfits to back his candidature in the race for Raisina Hill, is expected to meet YSR Congress Party chief Jaganmohan Reddy in jail and seek his support
Reddy is presently lodged at the Chanchalguda Jail near Hyderabad on alleged corruption charges.
However, there are certain media reports, which say that Sangma has been denied permission to meet the Kadapa MP.
Sangma has so far sought the support of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and the Biju Janata Dal (BJD)
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa and Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had announced their support for Sangma last month.
Sangma, who is determined to contest the presidential poll as a candidate of the Tribal Forum of India, quit the NCP earlier this week on grounds that his self-respect was being compromised.
The presidential elections will be held on July 19. The vote count will take place on July 22
Pratibha Devisingh Patil's term as President ends on July 24.
