Congress activists today took out a march here protesting against the alleged anti-people policies of the Punjab government headed by Parkash Singh Badal.

The protestors led by former Punjab minister Joginder Singh Mann shouted anti-government slogans and asserted that the Badal government had allegedly forfeited its right to be in the saddle and should be shown the door.

They alleged that paddy was not being procured, prices were skyrocketing due to non-governance of the state government and essential commodities were going beyond the reach of the common man.

Mann warned the Punjab government that Congress activists would block vehicular traffic in case arrangements for paddy procurement were not immediately made and anti-people policies were not abandoned.

Mann had also led a protest dharna of farmers and arhtiyas (commission agents) last evening on the Phagwara-Hoshiarpur Road near Grain Market in protest against alleged non-lifting of paddy.

Meanwhile, vehicular traffic was affected for a while during the passage of the procession.
