About 100 workers of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) were taken into custody when they staged a sit-in in front the city police commissioner demanding withdrawal of cases booked against party's corporators.
TDP's two corporators - S Srinivas Reddy, Bhanu Prasad and an ex-corporator Dinesh Yadav were arrested by the police in connection with the "attack" on a group of pro-Telangana lawyers on March 6 here resulting in injuries to seven lawyers.
The TDP activists were taken into preventive custody today when they staged the sit-in before the police commissioner's office in the busy Basheerbagh locality which led to traffic jam, Narayanguda police said.
Following their arrests, the TDP corporators and the ex-corporator had approached the Andhra Pradesh High Court seeking bail which had rejected their plea in the case.
It may be recalled that a group of pro-Telangana lawyers and activists of TDP clashed during the 'Maha Dharna' at Indira Park jointly organised by TDP and Left Parties on March 6 demanding roll-back of hike in prices of petroleum prices.
The three arrested were charged under various sections of IPC including attempt to murder.
