Self-proclaimed god-woman Radhe Maa has been caught in a controversy after a woman named her in a case of dowry harassment on Thursday.
According to a leading English daily, Niki Gupta, in her complaint to the Kandivali police, has alleged that her in laws harassed her for dowry and assaulted her at the behest of Radhe Maa. Naming seven members of her husband's family in the complaint, including her husband, mother-in-law and father-in-law, the woman said she was also asked to do menial jobs at Radhe Maa's house. However, the woman's husband has denied all the allegations and said it was merely a matrimonial dispute and that the matter is subjudice in court.
A statement posted on Radhe Maa's Facebook page said that "..the reports are full of inaccuracies, unsubstantiated allegations, and rumours that have no basis in fact."
Meanwhile, Radhe Maa has also been caught in a separate controversy after pictures of her posing in a mini skirt started doing the rounds on social media.
There were also calls to bar the self-styled godwoman from visiting Nashik during the recent Kumbh Mela.
Another video showing her dancing on Bollywood numbers has also sparked a debate about the conduct of so-called spiritual leaders.
