The Congress has finalised an overly aggressive strategy to take the BSP head on its home ground (Uttar Pradesh) in the run up to the 2012 assembly election. Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi gave the green signal to the party’s pro active line of attack at a meeting of the state election committee here on Tuesday.

As part of the new offensive, the Congress would prepare a “charge sheet” to corner the Mayawati government.

Rahul left for Delhi without speaking with the media and senior party leaders were tightlipped about what he had said at the closed door meeting. But insiders reveal that Rahul had asked party leaders to “expose” the Mayawati government before the people by highlighting cases in which top BSP leaders, ministers and MLAs were involved. Partymen would focus on the involvement of such leaders in cases of land grabbing, corruption and other criminal charges.

He lambasted leader of Opposition Sushma Swaraj for dancing at Rajghat. “Look at how the BJP has fallen. It started with Ram and has come down to Ramdev,” he quipped.
