NEW DELHI: Its Rahul Mania that has gripped the Congress candidates who are vying with each other to get hold of the Amethi MP to woo voters in their constituencies.
"No doubt, all the candidates are keen to know about the schedule of Rahul and that when he will be campaigning in Delhi.
"However, he is yet to give us time for the meeting," Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) Chief JP Agarwal said.
However, the candidates in the fray strongly feel that a mere presence of the charismatic leader in their constituency is enough to turn the political fortune in their favour.
"Rahul represents youth. Over the years he has grown into a mature leader and has the capacity to draw crowds.
"I would be lucky if his campaign schedule includes my area also," Congress MLA Anil Bhardawj, who is contesting from Trinagar, said. However, he added, the Congress chief and the Prime Minister too would electrify the campaign and
partyworkers.
Bheeshma Sharma, a Congress candidate from Ghonda echoes similar sentiments. "Every party nominee is looking forward to see the young Gandhi scion campaigning for them.
"However, he is busy person and also all will not be lucky enough to get him included in their poll campaign," he added.
Sharma, whose name was cleared by the party after hectic discussion, said, he would seek votes in the name of Rahul besides party president Gandhi and the Prime Minister.
"Rahul is the face of future. He has a capacity to connect with youth which will help me fetch more votes," Transport Minister Haroon Yusuf, party candidate from Ballimaran in Old Delhi, said.
Sonia Gandhi will address a public meeting on November 23 in Mangolpuri which is the assembly seat of Development Minister Rajkumar Chauhan while Manmohan Singh will address an election campaign in Dakshinpuri.
According to the DPCC chief, all efforts were being made to persuade Rahul Gandhi to hold at least one meeting in Delhi where elections are scheduled to be held on November 29.
