A railway official who was in charge of construction of railway track in Imphal East district was shot dead by miscreants in Manipur, police said today.
Pintu Das, 32, the officer-in-charge of the construction work at Jiribam, about 222 km from Imphal, was gunned down late last night, the police said.
Das, who hailed from Tripura, died of bullet wounds.
No one has claimed responsibility for the killing, the police said.
Monetary demand could be one of the reasons behind the killing, the police said.
