Light rains pushed mecury down in the national capital today giving relief to Delhiites from searing heat as the day temperature dropped to 36.5 degree Celsius.
The weekend will be comfortable for the citizens as the weather office has predicted rains in the next couple of days too. In more good news, the Met department said the monsoon may arrive in the city anytime after June 30.
"The city received 0.2 mm of rains since last evening," a Met department official said.
The maximum temperature dropped by 4.9 degrees from yesterday's 41.4 degree C while the minimum temperature was recorded at 27.4 degree C against yesterday's 31.6 degrees.
Both the minimum and maximum temperatures were two notches below normal for this time of the year.
The maximum had dropped to 33 degree Celsius on June 7 which is a record low in the past decade.
The Met department has forecast partly cloudy sky, with possibility of light rains or thundery development for tomorrow. It said the maximum temperature is likely to be around 38 degrees Celsius while minimum will be around 28 degrees.
