Appealing to his cadres to win over the minds of people, MNS chief Raj Thackeray, who was in Vashi on Sunday, attacked the Congress-NCP government in the state. Thackeray even dubbed chief minister Prithviraj Chavan as a “helpless” CM who was doing a tightrope walk to save the government.

“I have had meetings with experts and the chief minister over the toll issue and every time I am told that although what we are saying is right, action cannot be taken since the ministry is with alliance partner NCP. I have never seen a helpless chief minister,” said Thackeray during a function.

He also did not forget to take a dig at deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar. “Ajit Pawar and company are speaking the language of dadagiri. We will show them their place during the elections. I appeal to all MNS workers to win over the minds of people. If you win over people, no matter how much any established individual in politics contests against you, you will win the polls.”

Raj also lamented over the poor environment condition in Navi Mumbai.
“While passing through Navi Mumbai, I see these majestic mountains being cut to size owing to illegal quarrying. Local politicians here have lost all sensitivity towards the environment. It is high time we preserve these mountains,” said Thackeray. He gave the example of New Zealand’s Butcher Garden and how the country took efforts to save the mountain around 100 years ago.

“If it could be done in New Zealand 100 years ago, what stops it from being done in India,” questioned the MNS chief.

On the failure to nab the killers of Dr Narendra Dabholkar, Thackeray said, “What is the use of announcing awards for him, when we are not able to nab his killers? The real tribute for him will be when his killers are arrested."
