The decision which Modi has taken, if it fails, then there will be serious crisis in country," said the MNS chief.

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray on Saturday slammed PM Narendra Modi and the Centre for demonetizing high currency notes, reported India Today

Thackeray said that while the move should be appreciated, the country could face issues if there was no serious thought behind the action. He added that despite the support the move has received, the PM was not telling people how it would help in the future.

The MNS head also said that the decision to demonetize was taken without considering about people's reaction to the move. Thackeray said that instead of demonetization, the government should have acted against people with black money.

"The decision which Modi has taken, if it fails, then there will be serious crisis in country. Everyone knows who has got how much black money. Why didn't the government take action against them instead of asking people to stand in long queues," Thackeray said. "At least 40 people died in bank and ATM queues, did any one of them have black money?" adding why were there no raids conducted by the government.

He also said that most financial transactions in the country took place via cash.

Thackeray attacked PM Modi saying, "In Goa Modi becomes emotional (to ask support for demonetization) and in the evening praises Sharad Pawar." He also spoke against the Centre saying that the government was ill-prepared for carrying out such a major task.

Thackeray pointed fingers at Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor. "Urjit Patel was advisor in Reliance and now Reliance Jio is given free service till December 30. Incidentally, the last day of transaction is also December 30. Is it a mere coincidence? I am not getting answers to this," he said.
