Ramalinga Raju in ICU

Sources said Raju suffered a mild heart attack at about 2pm on Monday and the jail authorities decided to shift him to the hospital.

B Ramalinga Raju, former chairman of Satyam Computer Services, has been shifted to the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), Hyderabad, from the Chanchalguda jail after he complained of breathlessness.

Sources said Raju suffered a mild heart attack at about 2pm on Monday and the jail authorities decided to shift him to the hospital. Srinivas, duty doctor at the NIMS, said Raju had chest pain and tests were being conducted.

The test results are expected on Tuesday.Raju was sent to jail on January 9 after he confessed to committing the country’s biggest accounting fraud at Satyam. His brother and former managing director of Satyam B Rama Raju and ex-CFO of the company Srinivas Vadlamani are also in jail.

Raju was accused of enjoying the support of the state government led by YS Rajasekhara Reddy, who was killed on Wednesday in a helicopter crash. The state police arrested Raju on charges of cheating, breach of trust and conspiracy before the CBI took charge of investigations.
