Hectic preparations were today on at the Ramlila Maidan where authorities have pulled out all the stops to make the venue ready for Anna Hazare to hold his protest fast against corruption.
As the Hazare Team announced that they have reached an agreement with the government over the protest venue, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) deployed its employees to clean up the venue.
The cleaning up mission was being monitored by Commissioner K S Mehra, who also deputed area Deputy Commissioner to the Maidan to lead the operations.
"We are working on making the ground ready for the protest as early as possible," a senior MCD official said, adding earth-movers have been deployed and sweepers engaged in clearing the mess in the ground.
Police also swung into action and conducted checks at the Maidan to ensure that no suspicious objects were there in the ground.
A senior police official said adequate number of personnel, including armed, will be deployed at the Maidan to ensure law and order.
