Rapper Sofia Ashraf's 'Kodaikanal Won’t' video against Unilever catches Nicki Minaj's attention

The video is call for action as Ashraf raps, ‘Kodaikanal won’t step down until you make amends now’.

Rapper Sofia Ashraf decided to put her skills to good use in a Nicki Minaj inspired tune that has now gone viral. In the video, Ashraf takes on the environmental issues affecting people in Kodaikanal because of a factory that was set up by Unilever.

Titled 'Kodiakanal Won't', the two-minute long rap is a direct plea to Unilever to clean up toxic mercury pollution caused by its now defunct factory in the town. She also calls them out on washing their hands off any compensation for the victims. The video is call for action as Ashraf raps, ‘Kodaikanal won’t step down until you make amends now’.

Made for the NGO Jhatka, Ashraf spells out the entire issue in a rap set to the tune of Nicki Minaj's popular hit 'Anaconda'. The video also caught the attention of Minaj herself:
