Stating that he had been wanting to tweet about this for last three days, Salman Khan added he was afraid to do so but it involves a "man's family".

Bollywood actor Salman Khan has come out in defence of death row convict in the 1993 Mumbai blast case Yakub Memon, saying the wrong man is being hung for the crimes of his brother Tiger Memon.

On Monday, the Supreme Court will hear the plea of Yakub Memon, seeking stay of execution of his death sentence scheduled for July 30. The apex court had rejected Memon's curative plea on July 21, putting an end to all legal remedies available for the convict.

In a series of tweets late Saturday night, Salman Khan wrote, "Get tiger hang him. Parade him not his brother”.

Taking to the micro-blogging site, Salman said he had been wanting to talk about this for some days but had refrained since it involved a family.

He tweeted saying, "Brother is being hanged for tiger. Aarrre Where is tiger?. One innocent man killed is killing the humanity."

The star also asked Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to send Tiger to India if he was in his country. "Sharif Saab ek darkhaust hai k agar yeh aap k mulkh mein hai toh plz iktila kar deejiyeh. ( Sharif Saab, I have a request, if Tiger Memon is in your country, please inform us)."

"Don't hang brother hang tha lomdi who ran away," said the actor.

The March 1993 blasts had led to the deaths of 257 people. Memon's brother, underworld don Tiger Memon, and Dawood Ibrahim were the masterminds of the blasts. The two still remain elusive.

Meanwhile, with just a few days left for the scheduled hanging of Yakub Memon, preparations are in full swing at the Nagpur Central Prison with authorities conducting dummy trials.

Inspector General of Police (Prisons) Meeran Borwankar visited the jail to take a review of the preparation for the hanging, which is scheduled for July 30.

Earlier, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi had alleged that Yakub Memon is being hanged only because he belongs to a particular religion. "The killers of Rajiv Gandhi and Beant Singh have the backing of political parties in Tamil Nadu and Punjab. Which political party is backing Yakub Memon? If they want to hang people they should not do it on the basis of religion. They cannot target religion," said Owaisi.
