Over 20,000 litres of crude oil leaked today from a crack in the state-owned Indian Oil Corporation's pipeline here, a day after a similar leak in the city.

Panic gripped Sitapura area, which witnessed the disastrous fire in an IOC fuel depot in 2009, when the pipeline leaked was traced near a valve inside the premises of IOC's pump house and the crude oil spilled in industrial area.

The situation, however, was brought under control and efforts made to restore the pipeline, a police officer said.

It is estimated that over 20,000 litres of oil has leaked from the pipeline in the area, he said, adding that oil supply has been affected.

There was leakage yesterday in the underground pipeline in Jaisinghpura Khor area at the city outskirts.
