Even a week after the Mumbai police had claimed to have cracked the mystery behind murder of Sheena Bora, there are a series of questions to which the police are yet to find answers. dna asks some of them.

What was the motive behind such a heinous crime?

Several theories were doing the rounds as to why Indrani Mukerjea and ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna allegedly murdered 25-year old Sheena. But even after a week, the police could not find the real motive. In fact, the Khar police, in their remand application before the Bandra court on Monday, stated that they are yet to ascertain the motive. The police have grilled Indrani and the other two accused for more than 100 hours.

From where did Shyamvar Rai get the weapon?

Indrani's driver Rai, who was nabbed from Vakola on August 21, with a weapon, spilled the beans on the murder during sustained grilling. Why would Rai, who do not have a previous criminal record and a full-time private vehicle driver, need a weapon ? From whom did Rai procure the weapon and for what? Why are there no further arrests in the weapon recovery case?

After having found Sheena's passport, why did Rahul Mukerjea not approach the police? It could have ended all claims and speculations about Sheena settling in the United States...

Following the arrest of Indrani, Peter Mukerjea's son Rahul told the police, in his statement that in 2012, after he was unable to contact Sheena, he asked Indrani about the Sheena's whereabouts. He was told Sheena is in the US and did not wish to continue her relationship with him anymore. Rahul found something amiss and claimed to have approached the police, requesting them to trace Sheena. Rahul later found Sheena's passport from her belongings and again confronted Indrani. This time, Indrani's reply was that Sheena had gone abroad on another passport. How can a citizen be issued two passports? If Rahul had Sheena's passport, why did he not approach the police with this evidence that something wrong could have happened to Sheena.

If Mikhail knew he was to be bumped off by Indrani, why did he stay mum all these years?

Mikhail, in his statement to the Khar police, had stated that on the day Sheena was murdered (April 24, 2012), Indrani had spiked his drinks with the intention of eliminating him, too. However, Mikhail claims to have got whiff of it and fled Mumbai. If that is the case, when Sheena went 'missing', why did Mikhail not inform the police that he suspected something would have happened to Sheena since he suspected Indrani to have conspired to kill him?

Why did Peter Mukerjea believe his wife (Indrani), despite his son Rahul and Sheena revealing Sheena's relationship with Indrani?

Peter had claimed that he was always told by Indrani that Sheena was her sister. However, he later claimed that Rahul had informed him that Sheena is Indrani's daughter. Sheena herself had told this to Peter. Then what strong reasons Peter had to believe Indrani and not his son and Sheena?

Charred body found, why did Raigad police not register an accidental death or murder case in 2012?

The Raigad police have come under scanner for their 'negligence' in handling a case, wherein a charred body was found in the Pen forest in 2012. The Pen police, in 2012, were informed by locals about the body. They simply made a diary entry into the matter and sent fragments of bones, teeth and hair to the JJ hospital without an FIR or accidental death report (ADR). This raised suspicion since, in such cases, the police are expected to file an ADR. In this case, the body was charred and petrol was used. Still, why did the police not register a murder case and initiate a full-fledged probe?

Why did Indrani keep the suitcase meant to dispose Mikhail's body at her residence all these years?

The police had on Sunday recovered a suitcase from Indrani's Worli residence, which they claim was to be used by Indrani and her accomplices to dispose Mikhail's body, once he was eliminated. With Mikhail fleeing Mumbai and there was no way Indrani could have eliminated him, would she have kept the suitcase at her place?
