The current Delhi Congress chief (Ajay Maken) is not able to reach out to leaders as needed, which is a reason why people are leaving the party, said the former Delhi CM

Former Delhi Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Sheila Dikshit on Tueday reacted to Arvinder Singh Lovely joining the BJP, by saying that there was a serious problem with the leadership with the Delhi unit of the party.

“The current Delhi Congress chief (Ajay Maken) is not able to reach out to leaders as needed, which is a reason why people are leaving the party,” Dikshit told ANI.

The former Delhi Chief Minister was also critical of Lovely’s resignation. “When even leaders who got everything from the party leave then whom do you trust?” Dikshit questioned.

Earlier in the day, Lovely took the primary membership of the BJP in the presence of party president Amit Shah, Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari and other senior party leaders.

Lovely is known as a very influential leader, especially among the Punjabi community in the national capital.

Lovely's move comes amid reports of massive resentment within the Delhi Congress over ticket distribution for the upcoming MCD polls.

There were reports that veteran party leader Dr AK Wali had submitted his resignation, however, the Congress later denied that he has resigned from the party.
