Shocking: Class VI student’s finger chopped off in Delhi school, nurse tries to cover up

Gruesome incident.

In a shocking incident, a class VI student’s finger was chopped off from his right hand at a private Delhi school. According to Zee Media, the incident took place on August 10 in St Columba's School. Ojas Punj, a Class VI student’s finger was cut off.

According to the complaint, his finger had got caught in the door while playing with boys from senior classes. What  followed was a shocking instance of medical negligence. The family members of the victim alleged that the school nurse asked a Class 4 employee to dress his wounds without noticing his missing finger.

The family received a call stating that their ward had suffered a small wound. Only when the child’s mother took him to Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital where they found a digit missing. When the angry family members called up school, they turned up with his missing fingers, but it was too late to attach.


 

The members took him to Gangaram Hospital for treatment and demanded strict action against the errant students and the nurse. The school has constituted a committee to investigate the matter.
