In a shocking turn of events, a foreign woman on Saturday was found chained to a tree in the forest near Sonurli village in Sawantwadi tehsil in Maharashtra. She was found by a shepherd early in the morning. He immediately informed the villagers and the police also reached the spot where they found the foreign woman tied to the tree.
The police found her in a very bad condition. It seemed as though she had not eaten or drunk anything for several days. The woman was brought to Sawantwadi Cottage Hospital and by evening she was shifted to Oros Rural Hospital for further treatment.
Accoridng to the report of Aajtak, the shepherd was taking his cattle early in the morning when he heard the sound of a woman crying in the forest. He went there and saw a woman chained to a tree.
The woman has been identified as Lalita Kayi Kumar S. She is an American citizen who hails from Tamil Nadu.
She found herself in a dire predicament, with her right leg chained to a tree. After experiencing heavy rains and days without food, she was left in a state where wasn’t able to speak.
Sawantwadi police inspector Amol Chavan said that Banda police is investigating the matter further. Since the said woman is a foreign national, the police have refused to give more information.
The inspector has questioned the woman and will record her statement once she gets discharged from the hospital.
