Shrikant Tyagi, who abused and assaulted woman in Noida housing society, granted bail by HC in Gangster Act case

Tyagi was earlier granted bail in connection with three cases but remained in jail as he was booked under the Gangster Act by the Delhi Police.

The Allahabad High Court on Monday granted bail to Noida politician Shrikant Tyagi, who was arrested over two months ago for allegedly abusing and assaulting a woman at his apartment complex. 

Tyagi, who has been in jail since his arrest on August 9, was earlier granted bail in connection with three cases but remained in jail as he was booked under the Gangster Act by the Delhi Police.

Tyagi, who claimed to be a BJP farmer wing leader - a claim rejected by the party, had abused a woman in the on the premises of Grand Omaxe in Noida Sector 93B on August 5. The incident took place when the woman objected to the plantation of some trees by Tyagi, citing a violation of rules even as he claimed he was within his rights to do so.

Following this, the athorities reached the housing society and demolished the illegal structure at the property of Shrikant Tyagi.

Granting bail, the court said Tyagi should not tamper with evidence and also not threaten and harass the prosecution witnesses. The court further said he should not commit an offence similar to the offence he is accused or suspected to have committed.

According to the court order, if Tyagi is found violating any of the bail conditions, the prosecution will be free to move an application for cancellation of the bail. 

Tyagi was also booked by police in a case of cheating and impersonation for misusing the Uttar Pradesh government symbols and monograms on his vehicles and charged under sections 419 (cheating by personation) and 482 (false property mark) of the IPC.

Later, the police charged him under the Gangster Act after a group of his supporters stormed the housing society and sought the address of the woman complainant. Shrikant Tyagi hasn't been granted bail in this case.
