CHANDIGARH: Demanding the arrest of Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmit Ram Rahim Singh who is at loggerheads with Sikh clergy, a conglomeration of radical Sikh groups on Thursday announced they would stage an 11-day sit-in in front of the houses of Punjab and Haryana Governors here from July 9.
A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of Sant Samaj comprising Damdami Taksal, Shiromani Akali Dal (presidium), SAD (Amritsar) and members of Shiromani Gurudwara Parbhandhak Committee (SGPC), Damdami Taksal chief Harnam Singh Dhuma told reporters here.
Accompanied by Sant Samaj chief Paramjit Singh and others, Dhuma, a descendant of slain militant Jarnail Singh Bhinderanwale, said the sit-in would be held for three hours everyday till July 19.
"If the Dera chief is not arrested till July 19, the further course of action which can be a mass movement or any other drastic action will be decided thereupon," he said.
