Singapore foreign minister, wife visit famous Chettinad Palace

P Chidambaram and founder of Chettinad Vidyashram group of educational institutions, Meena Muthiah, who accompanied them, explained the history and special features of the palace.

Singapore foreign minister George Yeo and his wife visited the famous Chettinad Palace at Kanadukathan near here and the Central Electro Chemical Research Institute in this town.

At the CERC, its director V Yegnaraman explained the various research facilities and ongoing research projects. 

Officials said Yeo had come to Pudukottai and Sivaganga yesterday as a guest of Chidambaram,his friend for many years.

The Singapore minister also visited the Canara Bank Artisan Training centre at Managiri and Thiruvenkatamudaiyan temple at
Ariyakudi and the rock cut Jain monument at Chithanavasal.

Officials accompanying the minister said Yeo and his wife were impressed by the Jain moument, especially the Yoga chamber "which echoes one's breath." 

The minister described Chittnnavasal as a treasure and said
the forefathers had mastered with precision, architechture,
painting and yoga.

Chidambaram's son Karthik Chidambaram,AICC member, was
also present.
