A six member gang was remanded till Aug 21 by the judicial first class magistrate court at Vaikom today for possessing Afghan made intoxicant substance.
Sijo Basein, 24, and Arun, 25, of Sulthanbathery, Anil Kumar, 34, of Karthikapally, Vivo, 24, of Vaikom, Francis praveen, 27, of Kumbalangi and Riyas, 28, of Vallarpadom were arrested yesterday from Kaduthuruthy here by the Excise Narcotic special squad.
They were coming to Kottayam from Kochi with the two packets containing total of two kg of the substance marked Afghan made to hand over to a party for Rs.44 lakh, police sources said.
The sample of the substance was sent to Forensic Laboratory, Thiruvananthapuram for testing, they said.
The police have impounded a bike and car.
