A skit on central government and sharp rise in prices of daily consumables is drawing big crowds to a Ganeshotsav pandal here. The skit depicts the failure of the Union government in controlling price rise.

The Satyam Shivam Sundaram Samitee, led by BJP MLA Yogesh Patel, has highlighted the issue of rise in prices of daily necessities with the help of a skit at the Ganesh pandal set up near Sursagar of Vadodara. The skit starts with a conversation between Narad muni and Lord Ganesha, with the later asking him the reason for installing his idol in a small hut without any decoration.

In reply, Narad says that it is due to steep price rise. He tells the lord that rising prices of essential commodities have created a sense of dissatisfaction and anguish amongst common people. While the conversation is on, slogans demanding control on prices are raised in the background, showing that people are in a mood of agitation.

Meanwhile, Lord Ganesha sees a person, with a turban on head and white beard,  sleeping in a chair. When Lord Ganesha asks Narad about it, the muni replies that the man is not unconscious but in deep sleep. Apparently, the man depicts the image of PM Manmohan Singh. Lord Ganesha tries to awaken him, but fails. Finally, the agitating people recognises the Lord and he addresses devotees, asking them to come out and express their anguish through agitation.

Talking to DNA, Patel said, “This is the burning issue of the country and we have tried to highlight it through the skit. The show is non-political. We are conducting such shows during Ganesh festival for the last seven years. In the past, we used this platform to show issues related to the BJP government of the state. We basically take up contemporary issues."

Currently, price hike is a major issue and concerns every individual of the country. The central government has failed to tackle the issue properly.
