Upper reaches of Kashmir valley received heavy snowfall while the plains were lashed by rains for the fifth consecutive day today disrupting power and water supply in many areas.
    Gulmarg, a hill resort in north Kashmir, received 74.4 mm of snow during the last two days, while Kupwara got 41.1 mm, a MET official said.
    Qazigund received 82.6 mm snowfall, while Kokernag and Pahalgam in south Kashmir received 52.4 mm and 48.4 mm of snow respectively.
    Srinagar, summer capital of the state, recorded 38.8 mm of rains till early this morning.
    The Met department said rain and snow would occur at most places in the state while hailstorm would occur at isolated places in Jammu division in the next few days.
    Heavy snowfall continued in upper reaches of Baramulla, Kupwara, Bandipora, Uri, Shopian and tourist resorts of Gulmarg and Pahalgam.
    Most areas in Kupwara district remained cut off due to snow, officials said, adding power supply and vehicular movement in the higher reaches of the district were also affected.
    Power authorities said some electric poles were damaged but repair works were going on.
    In Srinagar, scores of residential colonies have been submerged due to incessant rains.
     According to Met office, 132.6 mm of snowfall has been recorded in Batote, while Banihal recoded 130.8 mm.
