Sonia Gandhi is India's most inspiring woman politician: Survey

Congress president Sonia Gandhi has been voted as India's most inspiring female political leader who has been able to strike a perfect balance between her career and family life, according to a survey.

In the survey held by matrimonial service portal Shaadi.com, 36.2 per cent people voted for Sonia Gandhi, while BJP leader Sushma Swaraj was a close second with 33.6 per cent votes.

A release from Shaadi.com said today that the survey was to understand which successful Indian women was admired for striking a perfect balance between career and family life.

Over 5,100 Indian women from different cities participated in the poll.

In the corporate sector, Reliance's Nita Ambani (35.6 per cent) was voted as the most successful businesswoman followed by Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw of Biocon, Chanda Kochchar of ICICI Bank and Shikha Sharma of Axis Bank.

In the field of sports, Mary Kom (33.5 per cent) was voted as the 'Most Successful Sportstar' followed by Saina Nehwal, Sania Mirza and P V Sindhu.

From Bollywood, SRK's wife Gauri Khan topped the list, closely followed by Aishwarya Rai, Madhuri Dixit and Kajol.

"The poll suggests that Indian women seek inspiration from well-known personalities. They idolise personalities who can strike the right balance between career and family, despite their celebrity status," Gourav Rakshit, chief operating officer of Shaadi.com, said.
