A case under section 304(A) of IPC — causing death by a rash or negligent act — and section 337 (causing hurt by an act which endangers human life) has been registered, a police source said.

Delhi Police today registered a case of death due to negligence in connection with the
stampede in a government school in North-East Delhi, in which seven girls were killed. However, the FIR does not mention any names.

Delhi Police spokesperson Rajan Bhagat said a case under section 304(A) of IPC — causing death by a rash or negligent act — and section 337 (causing hurt by an act which
endangers human life) have been registered.

Asked why no one was named in the FIR, he said the police's first priority was to ensure that the injured got good treatment and that the law and order situation in the area was kept under control. "The case has been registered to facilitate further investigations," he said.

Seven girls were killed and 32 of their fellow students injured, six of them critically, in the stampede in North-East Delhi's Khajuri Khas school this morning.
