Five persons, including four women, have been arrested and 152 sarees valued at Rs 11.51 lakh seized.
Police were keeping tight vigil in view of the Diwali festival.
A woman was found moving about suspiciously near here yesterday and when questioned by a plainclothes woman SI told her that she had new saris in her possession and offered to sell them at a low price.
Police then found that the saris, including several expensive ones, were stolen and arrested the woman and four others.
