The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday hit-out at former finance minister P. Chidambaram for his remark on current situation in Jammu and Kashmir and the appointment of Dineshwar Sharma as interlocutor.
National Spokesperson of BJP, GVL Narasimha Rao attacked P Chidambaram and called him a poodle of Pakistan. This outburst came after Chidambaram's pointed nine tweets criticising Modi government's Jammu and Kashmir policy.
GVL Rao said on Twitter:
Earlier, taking to his Twitter handle, in a series of nine tweets, Chidambaram pointed towards the efforts taken by the government on Kashmir and how it failed to show any result. Commenting on the appointment of Dineshwar Sharma as the interlocutor for Kashmir, the former finance minister said the initiative was rebuffed by various stakeholders in the valley as a pre-election gimmick. Former finance minister P. Chidambaram on Sunday hit out at the Centre for failing to restore peace in the valley.
In essence Chidambaram said that hard muscular policy has failed in Kashmir. And it is time for looking for a political solution, which was tried by former Prime Ministers like Vajpayee and Manmohan Singh. According to Chidambaram, stakeholders in Kashmir have rejected appointment of interlocutor as pre-Gujarat election gimmick and hence has rejected the decision. Chidambaram advised the government to have a thorough relook in their Pakistan policy.
However BJP reacted by putting the blame of Kashmir problem on Congress. Sambit Patra said to ANI that Jwaharlal Nehru is responsible for this current situation in valley. GVL Narasimha Rao accused Chidambaram of singing Pakistan's tune.
