Sugar worth over Rs5 lakhs seized in Rajasthan

Special task forces are carrying out inspections across the state under the week-long campaign which started on Friday last to curb the adulteration during the Holi season.

Under a special campaign against black marketing and adulteration during the ongoing festive season, a state-level joint task force seized sugar, that was illegally stored, worth about Rs5.38 lakhs in Rajasthan's Jhalawar district.
    
"The team raided several places yesterday in the district and seized 158 quintal sugar from one trader, which was stored illegally in Bhawanimandi area," minister of food and civil supply Babu Lal Naagar said today.
    
"A truck was also seized and a police case was filed in this connection," he said.
    
The team comprising of officials of Medical and Health, Agriculture, Food, Animal Husbandry and other departments inspected 166 commercial establishments yesterday to check adulteration and black marketing, the minister said.
