Sukhbir Singh Badal launches highway patrol fleet in Punjab

Punjab deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal said the new highway patrol fleet comprising 50 motorcycles would patrol 534 km of national highways in the state.

A new highway patrol fleet comprising 50 motorcycles equipped with GPS, wireless system and mobile phones to regulate the flow of traffic was today launched by Punjab deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal.
   
Badal said these motorcycles would patrol 534 km of national highways in the state from Shambhu to Jalandhar, Jalandhar to Amritsar and Jalandhar to Pathankot, besides roads connecting these highways to airports at Amritsar and SAS Nagar.
     
On the occasion, Punjab DGP PS Gill gave a brief account of initiatives undertaken to ensure road security during the last three years, including constitution of road safety council headed by the chief minister.
