Summer vacation in Delhi schools for classes till 8 extended by a week

The schools were scheduled to re-open a week earlier in Delhi.

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister who is also the education minister Manish Sisodia on Sunday announced the extension of summer holidays in both government and private schools in Delhi due to the conitnuing heat wave in the national capital.

Manish Sisodia said that both government and private schools will re-open for standard 8 on July 8. However, classes for standard 9-12 will resume as per the schedule.

"Classes till standard 8 in all schools of Delhi, both government and private will remain closed till 7 July as their summer vacation has been extended due to the rising temperature in the national capital. Classes for standard 9-12 will resume as per the schedule," Sisodia said.

The schools were scheduled to re-open a week earlier in Delhi but since the heat wave in Delhi is still continuing, schools have been asked to re-open for classes 8 on July 8.

Meanwhile, the MeT department has predicted that heat wave will continue in the national capital.
