Even though the ram temple matter is in top court, the Uttar Pradesh Minister has sparked a controversy saying the 'Supreme Court is ours'.

Mukut Bihari Verma made the controversial remark while speaking to journalists. The minister said that Ram temple is their resolve and it will be built in Ayodhya, reported Hindustan Times.

According to a report, when Verma, a four-term BJP lawmaker from Bahraich, was reminded that the matter is in the court, the minister said, "That's why..the Supreme Court is ours. the judiciary is ours."

However, after Opposition parties attacked the minister for his remarks, he said that his remarks were taken out of context. "I merely meant that the Supreme Court too is part of this country and belongs to us and that we are sure the temple will come up in Ayodhya,” he told the daily.

In August, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya said that the 'majority of Muslims also want Ram temple in Ayodhya'.

‘We have a majority in Lok Sabha, but we don't have the numbers in the Rajya Sabha to pass a bill for the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya. Majority of Muslims also want Ram temple to be made, but due to some political reasons, especially the Congress party does not want consecutive hearings in the Supreme Court. They do not want Ram temple to be built in Ayodhya,’ he added.
