Victim had been admitted earlier to a private hospital for two days.

Another person died of swine flu in Ahmedabad on Thursday and, with his death, the death toll due to the disease rose to four in the city and five in the state.

Gautam Prajapati, who became a father a fortnight back when his wife gave birth to a baby boy, died of swine flu at the Ahmedabad Civil Hospital on Thursday afternoon. He was 25.

Prajapati was brought to the Civil Hospital from Apollo Hospital in a critical condition on Wednesday night. CEO of Apollo Hospitals, Ahmedabad, Dr Praful Pawar, said the patient was admitted to Apollo Hospital at around 10.45 pm on Wednesday where the doctors attending on him found, after an x-ray of his lungs, that he was seriously ill with pneumonia.

Suspecting that Prajapati had swine flu, the Apollo Hospital immediately informed the Civil Hospital about his case. Pawar said the patient was then taken to the Ahmedabad Civil Hospital at 12.35 am (just after midnight) in an Apollo Hospital ambulance.
At the Civil Hospital, Prajapapati was kept in the isolation ward for suspected cases of swine while his blood samples and throat swab were sent to be tested for the H1N1 virus. Prajapati’s test reports, which confirmed that he was suffering from swine flu, arrived at 8 am on Thursday. But he died a few hours later.
