Defiant Hurriyat hawk Syed Ali Shah Geelani, on Saturday, said he was ready to face the consequences following the Delhi court order to register cases of sedition against him and writer activist Arundhati Roy.

“In that seminar, I only reiterated our stand and whatever the consequences we are ready to face it. We have been challenging the fake accession of Jammu and Kashmir with India, which has given a pledge to give right to self-determination to the people of the state,” Geelani said.

The octogenarian said that it was India who took the case to the UN, which passed 18 resolutions for resolving this long pending dispute. “Majority of the people in J&K is asking for their rights promised by New Delhi in the UN,” he said

Geelani also castigated New Delhi for targeting Arundhati Roy. “It is very unfortunate that Arundhati Roy is being targeted because she is advocating freedom for us. It is not even tolerating a logical stand taken by its own citizens,” he said.
