Talks ahead of EU-India meet

SM Krishna held talks with European Union’s high representative for foreign affairs and security policy, and vice-president of the European Commission.

In the build up to the India-EU Summit scheduled to take place in New Delhi next month, external affairs minister SM Krishna held talks with Catherine Ashton, European Union’s high representative for foreign affairs and security policy, and vice-president of the European Commission, in Bangalore on Monday.

“India and the EU share a common value of freedom, democracy and law, and a convergence of interest which led to us becoming strategic partners in 2004,” said Krishna. He said the annual summits, ministerial meetings and interactions India has with the EU on an ongoing basis provides good opportunities to discuss bilateral issues and gives a framework for dealing with global issues.
