The Tamil Nadu government on Saturday decided to extend the lockdown till June 14. However, the restrictions will be eased in several districts.

Several states, after re-evaluating the current situation due to the second wave of COVID-19, are extending the lockdown or have decided to lift it in a phased manner. The Tamil Nadu government on Saturday (June 5) decided to extend the lockdown till June 14. However, the restrictions will be eased in several districts where the infection cases are declining or under control.

There are 11 districts in the state where the COVID-19 cases are high, and districts with relaxations of movement require an e-registration. The districts which are still brimming with the infection are Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Tiruppur, Erode, Salem, Karur, Namakkal, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, and Myladuthurai.

Following activities are allowed after e-registration:

Three passengers in taxis and two in auto-rickshaws (excluding the driver) are allowed only with an e-pass.

Movement of private security staff and housekeeping service staff in large housing complexes will be allowed after acquiring an e-pass.

Electricians, plumbers, carpenters, and other technicians will be allowed to function between 6 am to 5 pm with e-registration. 

For emergency travels to the hill stations like Nilgiris, Kodaikanal, Yercaud, Yelagiri, e-pass from a District Collector is a must. 

Process of applying for e-pass

Step 1: Visit the official website eregister.tnega.org/#/user/pass .
Step 2: Do your registration on the portal.
Step 3: Enter the OTP received after registration.
Step 4: Select the type of E-pass needed.
Step 5: Fill in all the necessary details such as name, address (home and destination), range of travel (inter-district/inter-state), number of passengers, duration, vehicle detail, address proof, etc.
Step 6: Submit the specified documents and submit ID proof mainly Aadhar Card or Voter ID, PAN Card, address proof, vehicle license, and employment ID to avail the e-pass.
