Tamil Nadu: Schemes for upliftement of transgenders, provided ID & ration cards

A group of transgenders thanked Chief Minister for coming out with schemes for their benefits.

A group of transgenders thanked Tamil Nadu Chief Minister on Monday for coming out with schemes for their benefits and upliftment. The schemes have lifted them economically in the society and lives also started prospering, according to Kanishka and Anusia, who had come to the District Collectorate to show their gratitude to the Government, said.

According to official sources, 358 transgenders were issued ID cards, 329 ration card in the district, till date. Similarly, 29 transgenders were given green houses near Kadamadai in the rural limits, under Chief Minister's Green House Scheme, they said.

Further, 81 transgenders, who are above 40 years and economically backward, are being given Rs 1,000 per month as financial assistance, the sources said.
