With BlackBerry mobile phone maker Research In Motion (RIM) promising access to Indian security agencies for monitoring its services, union minister Sachin Pilot today said the solution offered by the company was being examined by the department of telecom.
"Technology should not be a barrier for security," Pilot, the union minister of state for communications, said here.
On August 30, RIM promised access to Indian security agencies to monitor all its services with immediate effect.
RIM's response came after the Union home ministry made it clear that Blackberry had to shut down operations in the country from September one if it failed to provide access to monitoring of its messenger services.
