Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav’s elder son and former minister Tej Pratap Yadav has vacated his official bungalow claiming that Bihar CM Nitish Kumar and his deputy Sushil Modi have let ghosts loose in the house.

As former Health Minister of Bihar (in the Mahagathbandhan government), Tej Pratap was allotted 5, Deshratna Marg, a three-acre compound, as his official residence.

“I have vacated the official residence because Nitish and Modi have released ghosts in the bungalow to haunt me. Hence, I have decided to leave the bungalow,” Tej Pratap told mediapersons when asked about him leaving the government accommodation.

Tej Pratap is known for his beliefs in the divine intervention. He is often spotted wearing ‘tilak’ and ‘rudraksh’ or other religious marks. He was also seen in ‘Krishna-avatar’ and visits temples across the country.

It may be mentioned following the collapse of the Mahagathbandhan government in July last year, he was asked to vacate the bungalow by the officials so that another minister could be lodged there. However, almost seven months on, Tej Pratap was still occupying it.

When pointed about the government’s request to give up the bungalow, he said, “Are they the government? The people are the real government.” He added that he did not need any charity from the government as he already owned a house.

This government bungalow was the same one in which Tej had effected certain ‘renovations’ according to ‘Vastu Shatra’ on the advice of an astrologer in May last year. He had blocked its main gate (south facing) and started using the back exit (north facing) for “good luck”. He changed it back to original when locals complained of difficulties due to him using the rear exit and his father chided him for it.

The Opposition targeted Tej over his ‘ghost’ comment saying there was no need for one to fear the other.
